If you’ve been awake for the last couple of years… chances are you’ve had a case of sadness, maybe even depression. I am there with you friend! Life has been far from normal and there’s lots of things we’ve had to learn and adapt to. I hope happiness is one of those things for you! I hope this project encourages you to create something bright, colorful and overall happy!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

For the first layer of the background in my art journal, I sprayed a mix of yellow and orange spray inks (Ranger Ink Dylusions Lemon Zest and Squeezed Orange) through 12×12 TCW 936 Messy Writing Stencil. I did this for both the right and left side of each page.

On the right side of the layout, I glued down my main focal image (His Palette Within 017 Printable). On the left side of the layout I spread a generous layer of TCW stencil butters (Turquoise, Ocean, Orchid, Fuchsia) through 12×12 TCW575 Joyful Sunflower Stencil with a palette knife. I used the same colors on the right side of the page on top of the focal image but I used a cosmetic instead of a palette knife for a softer touch.

Stencil butters used:

TCW9063 Ocean Blue Stencil Butter

TCW9064 Turquoise Stencil Butter

TCW9065 Fuchsia Stencil Butter

TCW9066 Orchid Stencil Butter

TCW9067 Gamboge Stencil Butter

TCW9068 Marigold Stencil Butter

On the bottom of the right side of the layout, I added a layer of dark blue acrylic paint through 12×12 TCW586 Raven Mosaic Stencil and spread the stencil a little bit towards the middle of the page.

  1. Hi I love your ideas.. I have a question these colored butters can’t they be just like adding some fluid inks or what ever to gesso Matt Med or textured paste.
    Thanks

    1. They are completely different. They are not matte at all. They are a beautiful shimmer and they are of such a creamy consistency (like butter) that they have a different feel from acrylic inks, acrylic paints or gesso. Hope you’ll give them a try and let us know what you think.

PS. You can, however, add these butters to any of the mediums you mentioned as well as add them to acrylic paints or inks for different color and texture combos.
