LOVE MIXED MEDIA JOURNAL PAGE

Hi everyone. What does a girl do when she just wants to get messy? She gathers all of her favorite mixed media mediums and just plays! I had no idea what I was going to do with this layout. I just picked up my stencil butters to start and just experimented! No, it’s not my favorite, but that wasn’t what I was going for… I just wanted to have fun… Get my hands dirty, kind of thing. Do you ever just do that? Not all projects need to be perfect. It’s the process that is more fulfilling. At least for me, anyway.

Disclaimer: “The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with products to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.”

To begin, I used a palette knife to cover the white journal page all over using the Chartreuse Stencil Butter. I scraped through the page in some areas and left think layers of the medium throughout the page to add texture.

Next, I taped the TCW810 Blooming Garden stencil down at the ends using washi tape to prevent the stencil from moving. Then, I used a palette knife to pull the Fuchsia and Turquoise stencil butter through the stencil to create beautiful blooms for the background. I used a heat gun to dry the medium in between colors.*

I used the Platinum Modeling Paste for one of the blooms because it’s so pretty!! And it helps break down the brighter colors.

I used the Light and Fluffy Modeling paste and the TCW 437 Texturized stencil to create the dots and waves. To make the leaves, I used the TCW 2300 Gentle Leaves Slimline stencil and the Terre Verte Stencil Butter to create the leaves.

Then, I splashed white gesso all over the spread using the end of a paintbrush. I just felt like this spread needed some white…

Once I was satisfied with the background, I let it dry over night and then I embellished it!

Thank you so much for visiting today! I hope I inspired you to try out different mediums on your next project…even if it does not turn out the way you had initially envisioned… the process is still fun!
