Bee Kind Mixed Media Art Journal

Kindness is the most underrated act of love that we can show other people. The events that have happened over the last few years have tremendously impacted every single one of us on the planet. This page is a sweet reminder for us all to show a little extra kindness to those around us- we never know what someone else may be going through.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

In my double page spread in my art journal, I started out by adding small amounts of TCW9002 Black Gesso with a palette knife into the Gel Press Petites 3” (Hexagon) gel plate (mounted onto an acrylic block) and printing a few hexagon shapes across the center of the layout. I did not want a perfect impression but more of a grungy look which is why I chose to brayer on the black gesso instead of black acrylic. (Plus, it dries so much faster!)

I could not wait to showcase these new stencils that have just been released! In the bottom right hand corner and upper left hand corner of the layout, I applied a thin layer of black acrylic paint through 6×6 stencil and then applied the same paint with a round blending tool through slimline stencil around the edges of the layout.

On a few of the black hexagons, I applied a thin layer of TCW9010 Silver Gesso through 12×12 TCW541 Believe Script Stencil with a sponge.

After adding a few bee and honeycomb collage elements, the page needed some pretty little flowers to offset all the yellowness on the page. I applied a layer of yellow oxide acrylic paint onto the flower gel plate from the Gel Press Faith Impressions Kit by Keri Sallee, printed a few on top of the hexagons, applied a second layer of paint and then added these daisy flowers stamped with archival ink from the TCW2208 Precious Sentiments 4×6 Clear Stamps set.

Below are some close up photos of the finished product. Don’t forget to check out the process video linked below!
