Hello everyone! I have a fun project to share with you today and it’s not a papercraft project. It’s a sequin pillow case I created using Sublimation markers and the TCW2196 Peace Dove Sign Stencil and the TCW2186 Choose Love stencil!! I haven’t been in the mood to scrapbook like normal…maybe because that’s all I’ve been doing since this Pandemic to stay sane… so I’ve turned to other things I can make to mix it up a bit. Plus, I enjoy doing a variety of things… What about you? What do you do when you need a pick me up?

To begin, I placed two letter sized copy papers side-by-side and taped them together using heat tape.

Next, I flipped the paper over so that I could use sublimation markers and stencils to create the pattern for the pillow case. Make sure you tape the edges down using washi tape before you start coloring. Also, if you are using a sentiment, flip it so that it is backwards… that way, when it goes through the heat press, you will be creating a mirror image when the ink is sublimated to the pillow case. 🙂 This process is so cool.

Next, I used sublimation markers to color in the images.

Don’t worry too much if the colors look a little muted… once the ink is applied to heat, the colors will pop!

Once you are finished coloring in the images. You are ready to pop it in the heat press! Set your heat press at 400 degrees for 90 seconds and allow your heat press to heat up while you prepare your pillow case for the heat press.

Using heat tape, tape down your image face down over the pillow case. You do not want to be too stingy on the heat tape because if the project is not secure, you could get a ghost image…

Place a piece of protective paper at the top and bottom of the pillow case to prevent the sublimation markers from bleeding through.

Place the sequin pillow case in the heat press for 90 seconds at 400 degrees fahrenheit with the image facing towards the top of the heat press.

Carefully, remove the sequin pillow case from the heat press with gloves and allow it to cool down prior to handling. Once it’s cooled down, insert your pillow inside the pillow case and admire your beautiful work!
