Art Journal Page – Winter blooms

Hello TCW friends

I return to my favourite… my art journal again today. Vintage ephemera and grungy drips and splatters occupy my pages. All topped with some pretty chartreuse stencil butter and flowers made with those spectacular Valentina stencils.

– The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own –

Also – TCW9001 – White Gesso, TCW9002 – Black Gesso & TCW9011 – Matte medium

If you enjoy seeing a page come together quickly, you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.

…here is a step-by-step so you can see how the page came together…

1 – Randomly paint some TCW9002 – Black Gesso over a blank journal page in a vague diagonal direction and add some splats to the page – Completely dry it..

2 – With TCW9011 – Matte Medium adhere some vintage ephemera to the right hand side.

3 – Stencil through TCW700 – Fantasy Sphere stencil with pastel pink acrylic in a few places around the page.

4 – Add some black mark making and some white mark making to the page. Add some white drips and some white splatters across the page. This will add to the grunge effect of the design.

5 – Using acrylic or dye ink (I use Dye-na-flow here) in ecru, turquoise and pewter to add some depth to the page. Leave some of the blue toned colour to drip down the pages

5 – Take some TCW9061 – Chartreuse Stencil Butter and stencil through TCW541 – Believe Script following the black gesso’s diagonal line. Add this colour in three separate areas across the page.

6 – Stencil through TCW931 – Collarette Dahlia and TCW928 – Trumpet Daffodil in warm browns onto vintage ephemera paper and fussy cut them out.

7 – Using some pretty collage tissue birds (they happened to match perfectly!) Glue them with TCW9011 – Matte Medium onto the page. Also adhere the right hand flower so it leads off the page.

8 – Finally add the TCW931 – Collarette Dahlia stencilled paper to a piece of card to make it stronger and adhere that by popping it up with double sided foam tape

Until next time… have fun creating!
