Art Journal Page = TCW601 Poppy Field embellishments

Hiya TCW friends!

Such a cute character arrived on my page today… bringing a much needed smile to my face. The adulting in my life has been super tedious over the last few weeks, so I was glad for the opportunity to be able to relax and play within the pages of my journal.

…here is a step-by-step so you can see how the page came together…

1 – Beginning in a journal, I spray gloss spray through one of my favourite stencils TCW601 – Poppy Field. I immediately turn the wet stencil over and stamp the image onto the opposite page

2 – Using stenciled papers from my last video tutorial I add some colour to the background. I adhere with TCW9011 – Matte Gel Medium

3 -Spray through the smaller size of TCW601 – Poppy Field with Ruby acrylic gloss spray. I add some stenciling to the opposite page to balance out the red.

4 – Add some pretty washi tapes as background color and pattern across the page

5 – Using TCW246 – Swiss Dots, stencil through a mix of Lemon yellow paint and TCW9004 – Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste. I think, in hindsight, it would look good to add more of these dots to the page

6 – Use watercolor to sketch out a character and then knock back the background with white gesso tinted with a little watercolor. Create definition and depth by using pencils and paint pens to add details.

7 – TCW5002 – Mini Dots stencil with dark blue paint creates the character’s dress

8 – Once again, use TCW601 – Poppy Field, this time to create some pretty and colorful, fussy cut flowers. Use a fine line pen to draw in the flower stamens to create some extra detail. Add the flowers to the page as finished embellishments. Pop these flowers up with different levels of foam tape. Adhere some to the a background of the page.

9 – I add a tiny piece of foil lettering that reads “worry less” . Any type of lettering or sentiment that speaks to you would work here.
