Spring is finally making it’s way here! The time between now and the last one seems like forever and day doesn’t it? I wanted to make an art page to welcome new beginnings and a breath of fresh air!

A process video from my YouTube channel is linked down below.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I primed both art journal pages of the layout with a generous layer of TCW 9001 White Gesso. When using any kind of sprays- it’s always a good idea to pretreat the surface of your substrate.

I taped down the 12×12 TCW780 Botanical Dream Stencil using painters tape onto the craft mat underneath the left hand side of the page. I sprayed a generous amount of Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Gloss sprays in the colors of Fuchsia, Eggplant, Ocean, and Night.

Never waste any paint! I placed a blank sheet of recycled copy paper on top of the stencil while it was still wet and pulled a print (see right side of photo) to use for later. Two for one special!

On the right side of the layout, I glued down my image (from Keys of the Kingdom on Etsy) and placed the 12×12  TCW712 Butterfly Trail Stencil down with the top curve of the trail matching the shape of her head. From top to bottom, using a sponge dabber, I sponged TCW9065 Fuchsia Stencil Butter, TCW9063 Ocean Blue Stencil Butter and TCW9066 Orchid Stencil Butter down the length of the page. I only overlapped a few of the butterflies from the stencil onto of the image.

To soften the edges of the layout, I applied 1-2 layers of TCW 9001 White Gesso around the edges of the pages with a sponge dabber.

I glued down the butterfly images, applied a few stickers and stenciled over the top of the images with silver acrylic paint with a blending tool through 12×12 TCW865 Asian Floral Stencil. It’s not an overpowering layer but it does provide a little bit of shimmer over the layout when viewed in the light.

Below are some close up photos of the finished layout.
