Art Journal Page – True Bliss

“It is in the still silence of nature where one will find true bliss” – J.J.C. Smart

Hello TCW friends

Today I journeyed back into my art journal. It was a welcome change after 25 days of making hearts for my 100 day project. I enjoyed some simple stenciling and returned to my absolute favourite… black modeling paste. Inspired by nature and some wonderful floral stencils.

– The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own –

If you enjoy seeing a page come together quickly you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.

…here is a step-by-step so you can see how the page came together…

1 – Begin on a blank journal page with TCW632 Sweet Posey stencil. Stencil through with a rainbow of acrylics. Repeat this on both sides of the journal spread

2 – Stamp out some long grassy fronds from your favourite botanical or wildflower stamp. I have chosen a set by Darkroom Door called Nature Walk.

3 – Stamp the images onto tissue or deli paper so that you can lay out the images where you wish

4 – Once all the tissue has been stamped I used TCW9011 Matte Gel Medium to adhere the images to the page. You can water the medium down a little to make the tissue disappear into the rainbow background

5 – Next I used TCW9009 Black Modeling Paste through a large floral stencil TCW704 Cone Flowers.

6 – I create some depth by edging the page with archival ink pad and deep navy/ Payne’s grey watercolor

7 – I add some of the same deep navy watercolor into the background and add some splatters for texture

8 – I then add the handwritten quote at the top of the page

Until next time… have fun creating!
