Artist Trading Cards – Positive Words

Artist Trading Cards - POSITIVE WORDS

What are artist trading cards?

Artist trading cards, or ATCs, are small pieces of art that are traded. Artists create, trade and collect either in person or online. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5″ x 3.5″.

Let’s make some ATCs!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own

If you enjoy seeing a page come together quickly, you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.

…here is a step-by-step so you can see how the page came together…

1 – Firstly start with some heavy mixed media card stock. You can rule it up to the correct size before or after you have worked over the card.

2 – Begin by stencilling through TCW929 Felicia Daisy stencil with a gradient of blue paints.

3 – Using TCW2206 Sweet Sentiments Clear stamp set and TCW2200 Thank You Hearts clear stamp set. Stamp across your card with black Archival ink as other wet media will be used over the stamps.

4 – Use TCW2197 Merry Lights stencil along with TCW9004 Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste to create texture across the top and the bottom of the card. Once this is completely dry, use watercolour to pool around the modeling paste and create some depth.

5 – Now grab a toning napkin and apply with TCW9011 Gel Matte Medium.

6 – Add some color to the design with paint pens, gelly pens and pencils.

7 – Mix up some pale yellow modeling paste by combining white paint, TCW2067 Gamboge Stencil Butter and some TCW9004 Light and Fluffy Modeling paste.

8 – Once it is fully mixed and you are happy with the color, stencil through TCW2306 Slimline stencil – Dotted Cirlces.

9 – Dry the card thoroughly, add some marks with wax pencil, add some color with paint or Prismacolors.

10 – Finally, edge with archival ink in a toning color and add a positive word sticker to each card.

Hope you have enjoyed this quick walkthrough of my project. If you are having fun using all the pretty new stamps and stencil from TCW, tag your work with #tcwstencillove so we can see what you have been creating with these beautiful new supplies
