Journal ~ Love this Life

When I think of butterflies, I always think of transformations and things that become new again. I adore this new large Sunny Butterfly stencil (TCW934), with all the open spaces in the wings begging to be filled with doodles and dots. Oh, and let’s play some more with the beautiful Stencil Butter!!

TCW provided me with some awesome goodies to play with, but the opinions and creations are my own.

This page started by pure accident. I had a mixture of Lime Green and Chartreuse Stencil Butter left from a previous project and didn’t want it to waste. So, I smeared it on a page in my journal to use in the future. Well, that green was so beautiful and shiny that I had to play with it immediately!

The green was a little overwhelming, so I added TCW9002 Black Gesso in a few areas. I wasn’t sure if the Stencil Butter would have enough “tooth,” but I also didn’t know at this point where this page was going!

Next, I used the TCW934 Sunny Butterfly stencil and applied the TCW9065 Fuchsia Stencil Butter mixed with TCW9012 Shimmery Goodness on the top half. Mixing the butter with a carrier like that will stretch and save your product.

I just got this stamp from Unity Stamp Company, and I love its size. It’s from Christy Tomlinson and named” She was a daughter.” This was colored with Copics and cut along the border.

Once the butterfly was dry, I used a white Posca Pen and colored the lines inside the butterfly’s wings. Again, I didn’t know what I wanted to do here, so I played with a combination of dots and colors for visual interest to break up all the white.

I love a “scripty” stamp or stencil and dug out TCW541 Believe Script and used TCW9036 Champagne Gold Modeling Paste to make the stencil appeared raised.

I finished this spread by placing double sided foam tape behind the girl and the Tim Holtz chip board sentiment.

Love this Life

I love how a project with all different types of elements suddenly falls into place. It definitely transformed from the original plan I had in my head!

Thanks for letting me share this project with you, and I hope you can and will love your crazy life today!
