Mixed Media Board ~ Goodness

Hi friends, Charmaine here with a “new to me” project on a mixed media board. I incorporated my favorite song into this project, and it has helped me through a tough week. I hope you like it!

TCW provided me with some awesome goodies to play with, but the opinions and creations are my own.

This is my first project created on a TCW Mixed Media board, and I will be framing this and sending it as a gift to my sister in Australia.

I started with printing the lyrics of “The Goodness of God” on tissue paper and adhering it with Clear Matte Gel medium onto the media board. Prepare the board with the gel medium first.

Next, trim the excess paper and let this dry.

I need a blue sky and a green meadow. So I applied Tumbled Glass and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxides to the top and bottom. Position the TCW866 Cypress Tree stencil in the center. I used washi tape on the back to secure the stencil to the board.

Using a palette knife, apply TCW Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste through the stencil and let it dry.

I used Altenew watercolor pens and Prima Marketing Woodlands palette to color the dried modeling paste.

Add highlights with Posca pens and metallic gel pens for dimension.

This sentiment is part of the chorus of the song, and I am always singing it. It seemed fitting to place it here. I used Tim Holtz Thinlits Alphas here and used Gina K Connect glue to adhere to the board.

I added a black border to ground the tree. I used the General Scribe-All black pencil and smudged it with my finger and a little bit of water.

Seal the project using TCW Gloss Gel Medium. Be careful to not smudge and mix your colors. Clean your brush in between switching colors.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. This was a very cathartic process and helped me decompress after working in the hospital this week!

Stay safe!
