Art Journal Page – Wish Upon a Star…

Hi crafty TCW friends!

So nice to pull out my stencils for this weeks’ pages. I have been working a lot and I haven’t had my usual time to get properly messy with my paints! But today… I hauled everything out so I could really get into it… pure bliss!!

Today, I went with a star theme. It is getting close to Christmas and stars are always my go to for anything festive… so… this page, could easily be adapted for a Christmas theme if you might prefer that.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own

The Crafter’s Workshop products used within in this page:

Of course, as usual, If you enjoy seeing a page come together quickly, you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.

…here is how the page came together…

1 – Randomly paint black gesso across your journal page – TCW9002 Black Gesso is a great option

2 – Use TCW170 Star Shower stencil with light mint coloured paint.

3 – Use the same stencil TCW170 Star Shower and dark grey or black acrylic spray. This time I use the stencil like a stamp, pressing the image into the white parts of the page.

4 – Add a little more colour with acrylic spray in turquoise… better add some splats around the page for fun aswell!

5 – Next, using TCW5004 – Star Shower along with TCW9026 – Champagne Gold Modelling Paste, stencil over the left hand page and half of the right.

6 – With stencil, TCW5034 – Single Star, create some marbled star elements to add some dimension to the page.

7 – The marbled effect can be made using TCW9052 Super thick Gel and some royal blue acrylic paint, along with the TCW9026 Champagne Gold modelling paste. Pick up a little of each paste onto your palette knife and pass through the stencil without mixing the two. Cut these stars out.

8 – Add some more stencilling with TCW170 Star Shower in dark blue over the black sections of the page

9 – Attach some of the stars with glue, flat to the page and other stars with foam tape so that they sit above the page, adding some dimension.

10 – Add a sentiment to the bottom of the page

I do hope you have enjoyed this walk through of my page and the video. Hopefully it gives you some inspiration to create your own page using as many starry stencils as you can find.

Until next time… have fun!
