Underwater dreaming – Art Journal Page

Hi TCW Creatives!

Tammy here today to share some arty and colourful fun. Today I have another Art Journal page. This one is set under the ocean, inspired by the gorgeous ‘sea themed’ stencils that TCW has.

TCW provided me with some amazing goodies to play with but the opinions and creations are my own.

To begin this creation I applied TCW9001 White Gesso to my page as a base, using a large brush.

I added some Dylusions ‘Crushed Grape’ paint along the bottom and sides of the page. I used a large brush for this, as I wanted rough strokes.

Whilst still wet, I laid down the stencil TCW568 Moving Vines and wiped a wet baby wipe over the top to remove parts of the paint.

I then added Dylusions ‘After Midnight’ over the top in the same large messy strokes. This part is just about creating depth and layers. It doesn’t need to be perfect.

Layers of deep blue paint and purple paint randomly brushed onto background.

I repeated the step with the baby wipe and the TCW568 Moving Vines stencil.

I then added Dylusions ‘Fresh Lime’ to the top of the page, and ‘Polished Jade’ underneath this to join the two together.

I then laid down the same stencil TCW568 Moving Vines and using a sponge I dabbed each of the colors above through the stencil. I used both the 6×6 stencil and the 12×12 stencil.

This really creates depth and an underwater sea haven.

The final step to create the background is to sponge a little white paint through the stencil. The white really brightens everything up.

Next I mixed some TCW9008 Clear Modeling Paste with ‘Funky Fuschia’ paint and some TCW9012 Shimmery Goodness using a spatula.

I also mixed the same but with ‘After Midnight’ paint.

When you add paint to TCW9008 Clear Modeling Paste it doesn’t change the color at all, however, as I added a touch of the TCW9012 Shimmery Goodness it lightened the color slightly and added a gorgeous sparkly shine.

I then grabbed stencil TCW918 Seahorse – I adore that seahorse! and laid it onto my background. I used a spatula to spread the two premixed colors over the seahorse section of the stencil, allowing them to blend a little – I wanted a two tone ombre effect.

Carefully lift the stencil….. just gorgeous.

Whilst the paste is still wet I sprinkled a few beads onto it.

Allow to dry thoroughly.

I then mixed some more colored pastes using TCW9008 Clear Modeling Paste, TCW9012 Shimmery Goodness and the colors ‘Polished Jade’ and ‘Fresh Lime’.

I added some seaweed using TCW868 Gulf Coast Flora , again allowing the colors to mix a little.

I repeated this process to create a sea floor of seaweed.

Using TCW219 Punchinella, I added some white paint through the circle shapes to look like air bubbles. I then added some stamping to really enhance the underwater scene. I also added some pen marks and paint to the background of the seahorse, just to give him some more definition.

I added some journaling using a white pen.

Finally, using a spatula, I wiped TCW9036 Champagne Gold Modeling Paste through TCW922 Ethereal to add a few light sparkles.
