Journal Page ~ You are a Survivor

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I decided to dedicate this page to all the fighters, survivors, and to those who have lost their lives to this awful cancer.

This is Charmaine and let me show you how I made this page.

TCW provided me with some awesome goodies to play with, but the opinions and creations are my own.

First, prepare your page with TCW White Matte Gesso and let it dry. I then gave it a watercolor wash using the Vintage palette from Prima Marketing.

Next, I stamped this large background stamp from Unity Stamp Company’s Smak Kit ( April 2017) with VersaFine Clair (Fallen Leaves) pigment ink. Because this pigment ink will sit on top of the gesso, use clear embossing powder with a heat tool to fuse the color to the page.

I stamped this lady (from the same SMAK kit) onto deli paper with pigment ink. Before I adhered her to the page, I noticed that the background was too strong and needed to be muted. I used the same White Gesso initially and painted a portion in the middle where she will be placed. I then used TCW Matte Clear Gel Medium all over the page to seal in color.

Apply green acrylic paint with a brayer to a leafy stamp. This will fill the lower portion of the journal page.

Next, I used the TCW882 Fantasy Tile 6×6 stencil with Distress Oxide Vintage Photo all over the page, making sure not to cover the girl accidentally.

Now she needs some makeup! I used Jane Davenport’s Palette Pastel “Birthday Suite” for her skin tones and the “Chilled” palette for her outfit. Not sure if it’s recommended, but I used Copics to highlight the edges of her face, hair, and body.

I love TCW428 Gold Champagne Modeling paste and paired it with the TCW428 Climbing Vine stencil to the top of the page.

I added pink color to balance the page; I used the Mini TCW237 Tile Texture stencil with Distress Oxide Worn Lipstick all over the page.

My final touch was her message. This was done with a Dymo Label maker with pink ribbon that I bought off Amazon. Apply the sentiment with double-sided foam tape.

You are a survivor

I hope you enjoyed watching her come alive and see her stand strong for all of those who are fighting tirelessly for their lives.

Breast wishes,
Charmaine
