A Hot Flash Art Journal Page

Good Morning all! Helen here with a little art journal spread for you today to celebrate Halloween and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Of course I had to do an art journal page with a bit a snark on it!!! Breast Cancer is nothing to laugh about, as it has affected so many beautiful women… but like my aunt always said (she passed from breast cancer)… you gotta laugh, it keeps you strong!!! So this page is dedicated to you Aunty Lou!!

Finished art journal spread using stencils and modeling paste.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I first prepped my art journal page using TCW 9001 White Gesso using a paintbrush. . Once it was almost dry, I use The Crafters’s Workshop stencil, TCW2166 Poisies in a Row, and a baby wipe and wiped away some of the base paint.

Apply white gesso to page, paint over with acrylic paints, wipe away areas using TCW2166 Posies in a row stencil and baby wipe

Next, I used some TCW9038 Antique Gold Modeling Paste   and a spatula to add some dimension to my page, using TCW889 Dash V stencil. I also smeared some of the modeling paste over areas of my page that were blank using the spatula.

I let this air dry and then using a make up sponge; I sponged some Archival Potting Soil through some of the v’s of TCW889 Dash V stencil.

Using a makeup sponge, apply ink through TCW Dash V stencil here and there.

I finished off my spread with some brown splatters from some brown ink, added my lovely lady, some washi tape and a sentiment! I outlined to outside with an archival black ink

Finished art journal spread, added image, washi tape, brown splatters and a sentiment.

Thanks for taking the time to see my project for today!

We would love to see your projects made with TCW products!

  1. Loved this, but you left off the step between gesso and the first layer of paints. Also one picture is not loading. Would like to see all the steps.
