Live in the Moment!

Hello everyone!

Robyn here, I’m popping in today to share a stencilled card.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

The Crafter’s Workshop Blog – Live in the Moment! – stencilled card by Robyn Wood

This will also be my final post for The Crafter’s Workshop as my year is up and a new group of artists are joining the team to inspire you. A huge thank you to everyone who has looked at my posts and taken inspiration from my projects. I’ve really loved showing up every few weeks to inspire your creative journey.

Now let’s have a look at how my card came together.

I created the background first as this sets the tone for the other colours that come later. I smooshed some Distress Ink onto a non-stick craft mat and spritzed the ink a little with water until it beaded. I then dragged a piece of watercolour card through the colour until I was happy with the coverage and set it aside to dry. Knowing I wanted to stencil all over the piece, I left a part of it white.

I chose three warm colours that work well together but you can easily change them out for your preferred colourway.

Stenciling over background with Distress Inks and TCW825 Love Frame

To add an extra layer of colour and some pattern to the background, I overlaid the piece with TCW825 Love Frame and stencilled with orange Distress Oxide ink. The colour needs to be able to cover the initial layer so choose something that is darker. Of course, you could choose another Distress Ink if you don’t have any Oxides.

I then stamped a greeting and a teensy bird and coloured them using Distress Inks and a wet brush.

Draw a dotted line around heart shape with fine black pen and add stamped bird image.

For extra effect, I outlined the heart shape with a dotted line using a fine, black pen. Layering the elements onto a card base finished it off.

Supplies:

  • TCW825 Love Frame
  • Distress Inks and Distress Oxide Inks in colours to suit
  • Darkroom Door Garden Birds and Mediation stamp sets

Thanks for joining me today! I hope I have inspired you to pull out your stencils and create something. It has been an incredible pleasure and privilege to inspire you while working with one of the best creative teams in the industry over the past year.

We would love to see what you create with The Crafters Workshop Stencils and Mediums. You can share it with us on our Facebook Page, Instagram and Pinterest using hashtag #stencillove
