Batik Background by Kassy

I love to find different ways to create quick and eye catching backgrounds for my projects! There are so many wonderful techniques out there. Today I am going to show you one of them. I promise you can make this project rather quickly and it will look amazing!

You can view my full tutorial video here. The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I used stencil TCW902 with the new Super Thick gloss gel. This stuff is no joke! I used it through the stencil but I also used it to adhere the ribbon and stamped images to the card base and when it was dry it was like cement! I will be using this for all of my mixed media collage projects in the future. It’s sooooo good!

I used TCW White Gesso on the cardstock first. Once that was dry, I put some yellow and turquoise watercolor pigment down and let it dry. Next I used the stencil with the gel to create the cool pattern. You really have to let that dry completely before the last step to get good results…but it’s so worth it!

Finally, I added some purple watercolor pigment on the background and wiped away the excess to create this cool batik background.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
