Art Journal Cover

I try to look at different ways to use my supplies and materials. Today I made an image for the cover of one of my Art Journals using a stencil in a slightly different way than I usually do.

For this cover, I used TCW926 Bubble Rebound. I traced around the stencil using a white gel pen on heavy black card stock.

Next, I cut out the “background” portions of the traced stencil with a craft knife, being careful to cut inside of the white lines so they would still show. Once the background was cut away (I also added a border), I layered the black card stock over a metallic copper card stock.

I then used circle punches and patterned paper to make circles to fill the circles on the traced stencil. The paper circles were glued in place.

The image was then trimmed and attached to the cover of the Art Journal. More lines and script were added with the white gel marker.

This was so fun and easy to create an effective and clean edged image.

I received some of the materials used on this project from The Crafter’s Workshop but the opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I am writing this post after several days under Stay at Home orders here in the state of Washington. Creating art is, and always will be, a source of solace for me in these trying times. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire art and crafting world for a safe journey through these uncertain times!

Stay SAFE, Stay HOME, and Stay POSITIVE!
