Fuchsia Greeting Cards

Step by step tutorial on how to create stunning fuchsia greeting cards

Hi everyone, Heidi here, today I’m showing you this fun set of greeting cards! The awesome thing about this project is that you can stop at any step within this project, stamp on your sentiment and you are good to go, or you can add more layers to one or more cards and make it more bold! Whatever you like!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own. This post contains affiliate links.

Step 1:

I started my project by die cutting three rectangle panels, two sizes smaller than my card bases. I used different colours of Canson “Mi-Teintes Pastel” paper (preferably the darker colours). I used the front of the paper because i liked the textured look, but you can of course use the backside (which is recommended for coloured pencil) if you like that result better.

I then placed my stencil of choice over each panel, leaving enough room to add my sentiment later on, adhered the stencil temporarily and then applied some Spectrum Noir Opaque Pigment ink in “Pure White” using a foam applicator tool. Remove the stencil carefully, wash it under the sink, and dry the white ink with you heat tool, which doesn’t take long.

Today I’m working with a delicate The Crafter’s Workshop stencil called “Stencil Fuchsia” (TCW859s).

If you like this look than you stop right here, add your sentiment and finish your card.

Step 2:

Replace the stencil over the fuchsia design, it doesn’t have to be 100% accurate, it will even look nicer if the stencil is slightly of set. I’m using two pink colours to add more colour to the flower parts: Memento Ink in “Rose Bud” and the darker Gina K “Passionate Pink”. For this I also use a foam applicator tool. Clean then stencil under the sink.

Step 3:

Do the same with the green inks (yes I know this is not colour accurate, there should be green and some other colour like purple, but I liked the design better this way): I choose Distress Ink in “Twisted Citron” and the darker Memento Ink in “Cottage Ivy”.

Again, if you like this result, stop right here, add your sentiment and put your card together!

Step 4:

If you know me well you know I like my colours bold so that is why I added another layer of colour using coloured pencils. For this step to look nice it’s very important to use a good white pencil (like the Derwent Drawing “Chinese White” I used).

For my greens I used Spectrum Noir ColourBlend pencils in “Grass”, “Shamrock” and “Alpine”. You can use any coloured pencils you have.

I first added the white pencil in for my highlights, then added the green colours and then added more layers of the white and the greens until I liked what I had. This step is the most time consuming part of creating these cards!

For the stamen I used some Sakura Permapaque Marker in gold in combination with the white pencil.

Step 5:

For my pinks I used Spectrum Noir ColourBlend pencils in “Cupid” and “Mulberry” in combination with the white pencil. After this my colouring is done!

Step 6:

Time to put these cards together: I used some anti-static powder tool on the area where I planned my sentiment, then I stamped the sentiments onto the panels using Versamark ink and I heat embossed using Ranger Super Fine Detail “Gold” embossing powder, Ranger “Liquid Platinum” embossing powder and Wow! “Opaque Bright White” embossing powder. When the embossing powder has cooled down after melting it, you can carefully swipe away the anti-static powder that might have remained.

The sentiments on today’s card are all from the Whimsy Stamps “Friendly Flowers” stamp set.

Next I die cut three background panels from matching pink card stock, slightly larger then the first panel, and adhered both panels together using liquid glue. And to finish each card I than adhered this combination to a creme coloured linen textured card base using one millimetre thick foam tape.

And that’s it for today’s card project! I wish you a creative day!
