Hello again TCW friends
I used a beautiful stencil this week, creating an aged background that reminded me of vintage wallpaper. So I then went on to create a collage overlay actually using some of my vintage wallpaper stash!
– The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own –
If you enjoy seeing a page come together quickly, you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.
…here is how the page progressed…
1 – I paint the entire spread in Dina Wakley heavy body acrylic – Umber firstly.
2 – Using TCW907 Pointelle and TCW9039 Copper Penny Modeling Paste, I stencil the entire background and wait until the modeling paste is completely dry.
3 – Once dry, I paint over the texture paste with TCW9001 White Gesso using a dry brush.
4 – Using DWM paint once again I diluted Lapis & Night. I then pooled them over the dry gesso to bring out the texture.
5 – I then used a dry brush and a little DWM turquoise for highlights.
This is essentially my background. At this point, ANY vintage collage could go over this background. As the page looked quite like an old wall of textured wallpaper, I decided to go with a collage overlay of vintage wallpaper flowers and a quote.
” Flowers grow out of dark moments” – Carita Kent
I do hope you have enjoyed this walk through of my design. Hopefully it gives you some inspiration to try your own vintage background in your journal
Until next time… have fun creating!
