How I Use Spray Paint with My Stencils

I love spray paint. It comes in lots of colors, its unpredictable, messy, and so much fun to use. The worst part of spray paint is that they stink and you need a well ventilated area and I recommend using a Paint Respirator Mask. I use any spray paint that’s on sale. No particular brand.

For my journal pages I started by spraying black through TCW860 Lavender stencil.

Next I added TCW White Gesso to the page. I wanted to push back the black a little.

I then took the Lavender stencil and sprayed the stencil with black spray paint and put it on the page like it was s stamp.

I pulled it off and repeated the process with teal paint.

Using a black pen I added TCW861 Happy Dandelions stencil to the pages.

To add a pop of color I took some pink heavy body acrylic paint and used it like modeling paste to add it to the pages.

Once everything dried I added a few words to complete the pages.

Spray paint is unpredictable and takes time to learn how to use. You may find it seeped under the stencil (okay by me!) or you didn’t spray enough. It’s all trial and error but I do love it.

We would love to see what you create with The Crafters Workshop Stencils and Mediums. You can share it with us on our Facebook pageInstagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.
