Collage Fuchsia Girl | An Art Journal Page

Its been a hot minute since I have created an art journal page, so it was so much fun playing again.

Today I will be using techniques like: Collage, stenciling for background interest, creating texture with a stencil with modeling paste and more.

This is a very simple art journal page that you can easily recreate yourself.

Firstly you want to tear pages from a magazine or in my case the Dina Wakley Collage collective, which already has a drawn out face, a base to work with. Collage this onto your page and fill color around the collage areas to get rid of the blocks and white on the page. To adhere my collage, I used TCW Matte Gel Medium.

Now I want to add more interest in the background and blend the collage area with the paint. I reach for stencil TCW 837 – Orb Mandala and stencil over most of the pages in a teal blue color, just avoiding the face.

I add some brayering with white paint

Next I want to add my focal point, which will be the textured Fuchsia flowers. I get my large 12 x 12 TCW 859 – Fuchsia stencil and add the gorgeous flowers on the top half of the page. For this I use TCW Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste.

TOP TIPS: 1 – Light and fluffy modeling paste is amazing stuff, you can easily add pigment to it to change the color. 2 – The dried result will be really hard and wonderful on any project. 3 – Be careful of applying heat to the wet paste, as it will puff up – its wonderful in its own way, try it for yourself.

Lastly I finish this off by adding a quote to the lower half of the page, from the Art by Marlene collection.

I hope you had fun with this project today, and learned a thing or too about how you can combine a couple of different techniques to come up with one spread 🙂

Till next time friends 🙂
