Hi everyone! It’s Lindsay, from Crafting While Caffeinated Blog and YouTube Channel, here with you today sharing another video tutorial! One of my favorite mediums from The Crafter’s Workshop is the Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste. It is so versatile and can be used for any number of techniques. I love it so much, if I could only have one “paste” in my craft room, I would choose this!

Today, I have another fun technique you can do with the Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste and it’s so simple. All you need to do is add heat. You can watch the full tutorial down below!

On my first project I went very simple. I wanted to share the white paste on white cardstock. I put the Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste through the Screen View stencil and before it dries I started heat setting the paste. You want to let the heat gun heat up a bit before bringing it to the paste and keep the heat moving. Once the paste has puffed, move on. It will burn and once it’s burned, you can’t undo it!

I love the puffing effect the heat gives the paste. It's a different and much smoother texture than letting it dry on it's own!

I kept this card pretty simple, only adding a small sentiment and stamped image. I also added a little shine with a few jewels!

White on white is such a great way to add subtle texture to your cards

I wanted to create a little scene on my second project so I used the new Lavender stencil. On a piece of white cardstock I first ink blended the stems of the flowers with Versafine Clair ink. The ink you use here is important. It could overlap with the paste (which will make up the top of the flowers) and you don’t ant to paste to take on the green color. It will do that if you use dye ink, so use a non waterbased ink here. I also used a Fantastix tool to ink blend those tiny stems and not get any ink onto the tops. To color the paste I used a purple dye ink and really used a thick layer through the stencil. The more paste you use the bigger the puff!

The morepaste you use the bigger the puff. You can also add texture with your palette knife and then heat set for even more texture!

I wanted the main focus on this card to be that background so I only added a die cut sentiment and a few jewels to finish this card.

Be sure to use a non water based ink when you don't want it to mix with the paste.

I wanted to stress the point of ink choice on my final card. There are so many times I ink blend my background and want to add stenciling over the top. If you choose to use the Light and Fluffy Paste, like I did here, you want to be sure to use an ink that won’t bleed into the paste when applied. I like the Versafine Clair inks, which is what I used here. To color the paste I used a different product; the new Color Bursts!! They are so pigmented and work fantastic to color the pastes! I put the paste through a new stencil, Maidenhair Fern, which has such fine details! The puffing works great even with those fine details!!

To offset the brightness in the background I went with a black die cut sentiment. I glued several together to create a chipboard effect. And to help separate from the background even more, I added a vellum banner.

A bright yellow and green background is perfect for the bright addition of the Maidenhair Fern stencil.
