Art Journal Page – Flowers Have Spoken

close up of the stenciled journal page

Hi TCW Friends!

Great to be back again …. I decided this time around to use stencil TCW829 – Heartful Flower (by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer) and show off both sizes on a journal page within my Moleskine planner.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own

If you enjoy seeing a page come together quickly, you can just go ahead and watch the process video below. Captions within the video will tell you what products I have used along the way.

…here is how the page progressed…

I started with random placement of paint onto the page, along with some mark making with various sized paint brushes

I next stenciled TCW828 – Heartful flower along the bottom edge of my page and a couple of times onto the body of the page.

Taking the larger size of the same stencil, I spray some pink Ironlak spray paint through the stencil.

I then mirror the stencil onto the left hand side of the double page spread and use a very pale pink to stencil through as a contrast to the darker colour of the spray paint.

I deepen the colour on the edge of the right hand page with a little more spray paint in a magenta tone. I also use stencil TCW5002 – mini dots to add some interest into the right hand corners and the edge of the left page also

I then outline the stencil in white whilst also doodling and colouring the internal shapes of the stencil. I create some marks with pencil and crayon to tie both the left and right halves of the page together.

I finalise the page with a quote by Lydia M. Child

Flowers have spoken to me more than I can tell in written words. They are the hieroglyphics of angels, loved by all men for the beauty of their character, though few can decipher even fragments of their meaning.

I do hope you have enjoyed this walk through of my planner page.

Have a great day!
Dani Choate
