4 Ways to Add Glitter to Stenciling

Hi everyone! It’s Lindsay here, from Crafting While Caffeinated Blog & YouTube Channel. I am super excited to share a new video tutorial with you today and it’s all about GLITTER!! Specifically, four different ways to add glitter to your stenciling!! Be sure to watch the video below for all the details!!

Some of the supplies used in the video above and blog post were sent to me free of charge for design purposes. I only ever design for companies who I can stand behind 100%!!

Let’s take a closer look at each individual project and how I applied the glitter in each case!

Four different ways to add glitter to stenciling

My first card utilizes embossing powder to add my glitter. This is such an easy way to add some glittery goodness to your projects over ink blended backgrounds like I did here! I used the Waves Cake & Cookie Stencil to first sponge in Versamark ink and then added and heat set Iridescent Clear Embossing powder. SUPER easy!! I love the bold mermaid look of this card!!

Using Iridescent Embossing Powder through the Waves stencil to add glitter to this bold card!

The second card uses a product I LOVE from TCW – Tacky- When-Dry Gel Medium. This is one of those products I can find so many uses for and love having it on hand! I applied the medium through the Wave stencil and after it dried, I burnished on blue fine glitter! This gives almost a foiled look!

Tacky When Dry Gel Medium was put through the Wave stencil and once dry, I added blue glitter for a foiled look!!

My third project uses yet another TCW product I use often and love a lot! For this project I used the Hot Foil gel through the Script Dots Stencil. After it dried, I sent it through my laminator with the Minc Glitter Sheets. This seals in the glitter and it doesn’t shed at all!! Plus, this gives almost a velvety look to the glittered background!

Hot foil gel was put through the Script Dots stencil after which, I ran it through the laminator with the Minc Glitter sheets. This gave a glittery, but velvety background that won't budge or shed!

My final card utilized a technique I’ve shared before and did a video on that I will link below, DIY Glitter Gel. This is a great technique to use if you dislike the mess of glitter and don’t want any chance of your glitter shedding! I love to make my own glitter gel so I can easily customize my own colors and use up all the glitter I have on hand! All you need is Gloss Gel Medium and you’re good to go! Not to mention, there are so many other great uses for the TCW Gloss Gel Medium! I put my DIY glitter gel through the Coral Spray stencil for a super quick background!

DIY Glitter Gel. To make mix glitter with Gloss Gel Medium! You can use as is or apply through a stencil for a quick background!

I hope you all found the video above helpful and you can find a way to add some glitter to your stenciling that works for you! If you seen any TCW stencils or products that I used in my projects today that you want to add to your crafty stash, I’ve linked them all below! Until next time, happy crafting!!
