Sentiment Shaker Cards with Stenciled Backgrounds

Hello everyone! It’s Lindsay, from Crafting While Caffeinated Blog & YouTube Channel, here with you today and I am so excited to share two interactive cards with stenciled backgrounds! I LOVE making shaker cards. They are some of my favorite cards to hand out and always put a smile on the recipients face! They are also the first my kids pick to give to their friends, so I am CONSTANTLY making them. Once you get the hang of making shaker cards, they are pretty simple and can come together quickly, but sometimes I’m not sure what to do in my background. My go to is stencils, now! They are the perfect backdrop for my shaker cards and really make the great finishing touch that isn’t too much work. Be sure to watch the video tutorial below to see how I put these cards together!

On my first card I used an alphabet die set. This makes it easy to make CUSTOM shaker cards! I especially love this idea to make fun kid’s card with their names. It really makes a fun little card to hang out! I loved making this monochromatic card with the Plaid Fringe stencil (one of my favorite stencils!)!!

My second card is using a more “traditional” sentiment die, which is super fun as well! I loved adding the stenciled background behind these shaker components to really help them pop! I added the Spanish Tile stencil for a nice bold look!

I hope you all enjoyed the video tutorial today! If you are interested in the stencils I used today, you can find them linked down below. Until next time, happy crafting!!

  1. As much as I appreciate all the detailed work done to make a card for mom, as a senior, I also think of all the vendors that sell their wares so that the creator can make a card for mom. From my perspective, I thought the process contained too many steps for a simple process. I always enjoyed crafting but did it without it being necessary to use so many tools & colors. I used basic tools and basic paints, cutouts from other cards sent to me as well as from catalogs or from anything that caught my attention. I taught myself to make mini hat pins using bottle caps for the top of the mini hat. I used frabic scraps to cover the top and the brims then I used decor from Michaels and the dollar store which included feathers of different colors. The mini hats have been a huge success. I recently turned age 80 and I’m having the time of my life crafting cards to send to friends in care assisted homes, hopefully to brighten their day. Thank you!
