I am back today with a art journal page.

Today I am working in my A4 Dylusions art journal, and I am going to apply some paints in blotches to the page, creating some blends where the colors meet, but not being to careful. I want to just get color down, its only the first layer, and the background.

Next I like to do some stenciling on the background and for this I am using 12 x 12 TCW832 – Script words. I use a lighter blue over the darker areas on the page, and a darker blue over the lighter blue to get a nice contrast.

Using TCW835 – Plaid Fringe I add a light apricot color on some areas of the page to add more texture.

Now I want to add the focal points to the page. To do this I grab TCW831 – Faithful tree and first do 2 coats of white acrylic paint, to make sure its nice and opaque. Then I start adding in colors. First I base the entire tree out in olive green then add some sedona and dark blue for shading and realism.

I have already picked out my other focal element from the Art by Marlene die cut book and then just traced the area where I planed on putting it, and then started to make a more solid area there, in a loose rectangle so that the element could stand out more. For this I used white and gold paint. I wanted to add some interest here, so I stenciled on some mustard color through TCW857 – Sunflower Mandala. Loved this effect.Now I am ready to add my die cut elements. I use TCW Matte Gel Medium to adhere them.

I am also adding a owl under the tree, and I add a hill for it to stand on with the green and blue paint.

I extend the girl’s body with a beautiful eggplant color and add some gold details with TCW835 – Plaid Fringe.

The owl also gets its own special background, so I am sponging white acrylic paint through TCW857 – Sunflower Mandala for him too. This ties in with the other elements and also makes him pop.

Lastly, I add doodles with a white posca paint pen, do some shading with a stabilo all black pencil, and add some black archival ink around the edges of the page.
