Elegant card with modeling paste moulds

How to create a fun and elegant card using moulds made from modeling paste

Hi everyone, Heidi here, today I’m on the blog with another card on which I used moulds created with The Crafter’s Workshop “Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste”. I couldn’t get this particular mould to work with air dry clay because of the very intricate design, and I was so happy that it worked very easily with the “Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste”! Of course you can also use these moulds on other mixed media projects besides cards!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

Step 1:

If you would like to read a more in depth tutorial on how to create these mould shapes then go HERE! Trust me, it’s very easy, doesn’t take any time at all and it’s not messy!

In short: you apply the modeling paste to the silicone mould (mine is by Art Studio ProSvet) using a palette knife, let it sit and dry, clean up the edges and pop the mould shape out. This way I created 6 shapes.

Step 2:

Next I die cut a rectangle panel from crème coloured card stock two sizes smaller then my card base. I cut one of the moulds in two using my scissors. Then I adhered all the shapes to the card stock using strong glue. When dry I painted the card stock panel as well as the mould shapes using The Crafter’s Workshop “Shimmery Goodness” and a small brush. Make sure you cover all the small pieces. “Shimmery Goodness” is named by what it is, you mix it with paint or any medium or use is as it is and all is covered in shimmery yamminess!

Step 3:

To add some extra interest to these mould shapes I then rubbed a tiny amount of Pebeo gilding wax in “King Gold” only over the mould shapes using my finger.

Step 4:

Next I worked on my other embellishments for this card design. I used a left over piece of card stock, the same colour as my background paper. I looked for a The Crafter’s Workshop stencil with a design that fitted my card and I decided on one called “Wild and Free” (TCW842s). Then I applied two colours of The Crafter’s Workshop Metallic Modeling Paste over the stencil, mixing them on the stencil, using a palette knife and set that aside to dry. I used the colours “Platinum” and “Marcasite Silver”. Using two colours instead of one creates a feeling op depth that I can’t reach with only one colour, so I really like this technique.

Step 5:

When dry I fussy cut around the flower and butterfly shapes using my scissors and cutting out the inner pieces using a craft knife, leaving a small white border. I also die cut a silvery coloured rectangle panel slightly smaller then my card base (which is crème coloured and linen textured).

I used a sentiment stamp by Lili of the Valley (“Handwritten Phrases”) and I die cut the sentiment, after stamping with black ink, using the largest die in the Lawn Fawn “Everyday Sentiment Banners” die set.

Now I’m ready to put my card together: I adhered the two rectangle panels together using liquid glue. Then I adhered the flower shapes and the butterfly on top using liquid glue and then doing the same with the sentiment banner, wrapping it around the left side of the combined panels and adhering on the back using regular tape.

The only thing I have to do now to finish my card is to adhere this combination to my card base using one millimetre thick foam tape!
