Stamping with Stencils – A Video Tutorial

Hello everyone! It’s Lindsay, from Crafting While Caffeinated Blog & YouTube Channel, here with you today and I am super excited to share another video tutorial!! There are soo many wonderful techniques in card making that stencils can be used for and I want to share another one with you in today’s video. I love stamping with traditional stamps, but did you know you can also stamp with your stencils, too? Be sure to watch the video tutorial below so you can see all the details!

There are so many ways to go about utilizing this technique and I have a few that I shared in the video. I’ll run over the basics here. The first is stamping with pigment ink. Pigment ink stays wet for a longer time, so you don’t need to add any moisture once you apply it to the stencil. I did this technique on two cards! All you need to do is apply the pigment ink directly to the stencil and then press the stencil onto card stock. If you need a bit more pressure to transfer the ink, you can use an ink brayer or an acrylic block! Here’s a look at both cards!

You can also use dye ink pads for this technique! I like to blend different colors on the stencil for more interest with this technique. Just remember, that dye inks dry pretty quickly, so you will need to add spritz the stencil with water before stamping onto card stock. I didn’t use much, so my impression would hold together a bit more. But, you could add as much watercolor for a more watercolored look!

Finally, I want to show you can use sprays to stamp with stencils as well! This medium can be a little messy, so use your sprays in a box. And because it is so wet, you don’t need to use a ton of pressure to transfer the stencil impression! I like to use this technique with watercolor paper, but it can be used with regular card stock as well.

I hope you all enjoyed a look at how you can use your stencils to do a bit of stamping and also all the mediums this technique will work with! If you are interested in any of The Crafter’s Workshop supplies I used on my card today, you can find them all listed and linked down below! Until next time, Happy Crafting!!
