Hello there lovely arty’s, welcome back to the TCW Blog. It’s Jeanine here, from My Arty Heart, and today I am bringing you a resist technique.
Now, if you are a regular here, you might have seen this post by Lindsay (Crating while caffeinated) on resits: Click HERE to read it. I LOVED this, and thought, how can I use it in an art journal, and then this popped out…
You can view the full process video HERE:
I started off this page with some paint already on the page. I had some fun gelli printing and cleaned my stencils off on the page. I used TCW827 – Spring Medallion 12 x 12, TCW829 Heartful Flower 12 x 12 and TCW835 Plaid Fringe 12 x 12.
Next I will use TCW Gloss Gel Medium for the resist technique.
Im using TCW 834 Stone Increase 12 x 12 because it has nice variations of shapes and holes, so this will work well for the technique as well as look interesting.
Over the dried gel medium, I am adding color burst pigments and activating it with water.
I dry the layer and add more color bursts to really get the contrast going. Rub the extra color off with a dry kitchen towel or old rag.
Next I add a border by rubbing Archival ink in Jet black around the page.
Lastly I am adding some doodles and a quote from Dina Wakley’s collage papers.
I hope you enjoyed this video tutorial on resisting with gel medium.
Here are photos for you to view of the finished project:

I’ve forgotten about using it as a resist! Thank you for the reminder; your pages are beautiful in both color choices and design!
Super! Today I can leave my comment! I never used gel media as resisting. Love your bright page.
