Easy Sketching with Stencils

Hi everyone!! It’s Lindsay, from Crafting While Caffeinated Blog and YouTube Channel, here with you today sharing another fun and super easy technique! When I was younger I remember using stencils; tracing the outline and then coloring in the image. And I wanted to get back to that today, with an updated twist of course! And I made a video tutorial to share with you exactly how I did a bit of updated sketching and coloring with The Crafter’s Workshop stencils!!

**THE CRAFTER’S WORKSHOP SENT ME SOME OF THE PRODUCTS USED IN THIS TUTORIAL, HOWEVER, ALL OPINIONS EXPRESSED ARE SOLELY MY OWN! I ONLY DESIGN FOR COMPANIES I STAND BEHIND 100%!**

This technique is super easy! You only need a few supplies to really make it work, one being a pen. Be sure that you are using a pen that will play well with whatever medium you will use to color in the image. For instance, watercolor will need a waterproof pen and alcohol markers would need something like a Copic Multiliner. So it’s probably a good idea to think ahead and plan this technique out!

I used four different ink colors to ink blend in my color. But there are so many different options here. You could use watercolors, alcohol markers, sprays, etc. to color in your sketched area. And each would be a beautiful!!

Sketching with stencils is such an easy and fun way to use your stencils and doesn’t require too many supplies. And the great part is you can use any of The Crafter’s Workshop’s stencils. I love the look of the Coronet Wreath Stencil that I used today, especially with all of it’s details, but ANY of the stencils will work for this technique!

I absolutely love this technique and it is so easy I can’t wait to play around with more stencils and different coloring mediums for different looks! If you are interested in the stencil I used today, you can find it linked down below!! Until next time, Happy Crafting!!
