Rebekah Meier, I accept your challenge!

Hi Everyone!  I contacted one of The Crafters Workshop’s stencil designers, Rebekah Meier, to give me a challenge for this post.  Her challenge was to use one of her new stencils and use pastels or gelatos.  So I dug out my gelatos which I hardly ever use. This was definitely going to be a challenge.

I chose a tag for my substrate and decided to add texture to the background. Using a gelato and TCW Gloss Gel Medium, I added the gelato first and then dipped my finger in gel medium and rubbed it into TCW803s Distressed Lace.  As you can see from the picture below, the stencil if full of paint. I use it all the time.

I’m loving the texture it gave me. Gelatos are water soluble so that’s why I used gel medium to seal them. I didn’t want to put any other wet mediums on the tag and the colors run.

When the colors dried I added a little blue to the background.

I used another tag and applied the same technique to create a two flowers. I cut the flowers out, glued them together and used pink thread for the middle of the flower.

Although I loved the challenge, I have a hard time using gelatos but Rebekah reminded me that you just have to keep trying.  Here is my completed tag.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. You can see all the New Stencils and Mixed Media Goodies on Scrapbook.com.
