More Ways to Use Tacky When Dry Gel Medium – A Video Tutorial

Hello Everyone!! It’s Lindsay again, sharing another video tutorial! You can always find me on my blog Crafting While Caffeinated & YouTube Channel! On my last post I shared a few different ways to foil with your stencils using mediums from The Crafter’s Workshop and I absolutely loved working with the Tacky When Dry Gel Medium. It’s such a fabulous medium to have on hand because it’s so versatile, so I wanted to share a few more ways you could use this handy medium! You can watch the video tutorial for all the details!!

I like using palette knives to spread my mediums through my stencils, but the trick to getting this medium to work to it’s fullest potential is to get it as smooth as possible. I found that using an old gift card was the easiest way to get this finish. A palette knife, while so handy to get the product out of the jar, just isn’t wide or long enough to achieve that really smooth finish.

The first project I used gilding flakes on my tacky medium. You can find gilding flakes in soo many different colors! I used a jar that had multiple colors and left such a unique finish, but you can use ANY gilding flakes with this medium. When you first put on the flakes it’s going to look pretty bad. Use a soft brush to push the flakes into the medium and dust off any flakes that are still attached, but not stuck to the design. This is going to leave you with such a crisp and clean and shiny stenciled pattern!

For my second project I used glitter. The glitter I used was just plain, regular, nothing special glitter. I chose two different colors for my pattern, but you can do so many different techniques here! The trick to getting the glitter to stick is to use your finger! By just burnishing the glitter into the medium with your finger, they lay down completely flat and look so cool!

I hope you all enjoyed today’s video and a look at a few more ways to use the Tacky When Dry Gel Medium from The Crafter’s Workshop! You can find all The Crafter’s Workshop supplies I used listed down below. Until next time, Happy Crafting!!
