Mixed Media Canvas – Time Flys

Hi there TCW fans!! Farrel here to share another mixed media project with you all. For today’s post I decided to create to a canvas using lots of layers.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

To start off my canvas, I painted TCW9001 White Gesso all over the canvas and used a heat gun to dry. Then I used a spatula to apply TCW9005 Modeling Paste and some crackle texture paste.

I used a heat gun to dry these mediums. If you have time, let the crackle medium dry over night as you will get a better crackle. In the next step I used TCW9005 Modeling Paste and stencil TCW794s Damask Decor using the large damask at the top and bottom of the canvas.

Next I used TCW381s Quatrefoil along with the modeling paste and randomly stenciled around the canvas. I used my heat gun to dry the paste.

I applied a coat of TCW9001 White Gesso to my chipboard and resin pieces, then adhered them together. Here I am measuring up where the sand texture paste was going to go. I used a spatula to apply the paste.

Once the paste was dry I then added some brown acrylic paint and watered it down using my spray bottle. I did the same with some turquoise acrylic paint also.

I wanted to add some yellow so I watered down some TCW9016 Lemon Custard Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and applied it to the texture sand paste and added some splatters with the left over paint.

Once the Lemon Custard paint dried it actually looked lime green so I painted over the top of most of it with Patina Effect paste but left a little bit of the yellow around the edges which you will later on.

Since I had the Patina Effect Paste out I thought I would use it on the chipboard and resin pieces and adhered it to the canvas. I also used some Art Alchemy waxes to highlight.

Thanks for dropping and I hope you enjoyed the tutorial xx
