A Bouquet of Flowers for Her Wedding

Hi Everyone!  For my sister’s bridal shower I created a floral painting as her gift. I have had many people ask me how I created it. It took me one week to finish it but only because of working full time and coming home and working on it at 2 hour increments.

Stencils and modeling paste I used
TCW815 Magnolia Blossoms
TCW822 Jasmine Spray
TCW823 Rose Bouquet
TCW824 Growing Wild
TCW737 Love Sonnet
TCW727 Flower Dance
TCW669 Literary
TCW9004 Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

This painting is on a 14″ x 24″ wood cradled panel. I painted the board from dark burgundy to a lighter shade. When the paint dried I added the Love Sonnet stencil to the board in the same colors.

Sorry for the glare of my lights!!!
The paint dried and I started adding flowers through the stencil with acrylic paint. As you can see I added roses in dark burgundy. It was to help show shadows in the bouquet.

To be honest I didn’t have a plan on how I was going to create this bouquet. I just went with my intuition as you can see below.

After adding flowers to the background, I added more with Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste.  As you can see I didn’t add the whole stencil design. I only used the flowers I needed in certain areas of the panel.  Here is my tip. Use painters tape on the stencil to mask off the designs you don’t want to use.

Here is another tip. WAIT FOR THE PASTE TO DRY before adding each flower. That’s why it took so long. I wanted to place a flower here or there but if the paste was wet the flowers would smear.  It was time consuming but worth it in the end.

When the paste was dry I was able to start painting.

Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste is my favorite because its porous and when it’s dry you can wet it with a brush and add paint. It soaks it up and spreads through the paste (leaves).

Here is the finished piece.

If you have patience, time and Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste you can create a bouquet of flowers too.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. You can see all the New Stencils and Mixed Media Goodies on Scrapbook.com.

We would love to see what you create with The Crafters Workshop Stencils and Mediums. You can share it with us on our Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.
