Gel Press Gift Box

How to create a decorated small gift box using Gel Press prints and stencils

Hi everyone, Heidi here, today I would like to show you a 3D project: a small gift box that you can use to gift some nail polishes or jewellery for example. Of course you can adjust the colours so they fit your colour preferences! I love a little added metallic touch to these kind of projects, I will also show you how I created that effect!

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own. This post also contains affiliate links.

The bases of my project are some prints created with a Gel Press mono printing plate. I printed on Rebekah Meier Designs by Therm-O-Web “Mixed Media Art Paper“. This is such a fun combination of products to work with, if you don’t know them then you should really try them out! The Mixed Media Art Paper is of the same consistency as the Rebekah Meier Designs by Therm-O-Web “Mixed Media Art Tape“ (which I love) but then instead of tape on a roll this is a self adhesive A4 size sheet.

If you have never worked with a Gel Press mono printing plate before then I would recommend reading THIS post so you can start with the basics! Be warned: mono printing is very addictive and totally fun!

Step 1

I created a bunch of prints in a colour combination that spoke to me: as you can see in the picture I created several prints on the mentioned “Mixed Media Art Paper“ and I also kept the A4 printer paper sheets that where used to clean my brayer and stencils of on.

Step 2:

Of the prints that I created on the “Mixed Media Art Paper“ I used the two with the pink/plum colour combination for this project and one A4 size sheet of paper that I used to roll my brayer of on.

I used the following The Crafter’s Workshop stencils on today’s project for the mono printing process:

“Posies in a Row“ (TCW2166)

“Stencil Harlequin“(TCW202s)

And I the following paint colours:

– DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint in the colour : “Royal Fuchsia“;

– DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint in the colour : “Frosted Plum“;

– DecoArt Dazzling Metallics Acrylic Paint in the colour: “White Pearl“;

– DecoArt Dazzling Metallics Acrylic Paint in the colour: “Dark Patina“.

Step 3:

Next I adhered the prints that I created on the Mixed Media Art Paper on some matching pink coloured card stock and I die cut the box shape twice using a die (you can use any box shaped die that you have). I edged the box parts using Archival Ink in the colour “Plum“, to create a more defined edge, using a foam applicator tool.

Step 4:

Now I can adhere the two parts of the box together using Therm-O-Web “Mixed Media Adhesive“ creating the actual box.

Step 5:

This step would also be possible to do before putting the box together but I didn’t think of it at that moment. I filled the box to create a sturdy underground and then proceeded:

for some fun added metallic element I now can apply some The Crafter’s Workshop Metallic Modeling Paste in the colour “Champagne Gold“over a The Crafter’s Workshop stencil called “Botanical Dream“ (TCW780s) using a palette knife and set that aside to dry. This way I worked on all four sides of the box.

Step 6:

To finish my box I decorated one site with some punched out flower elements (for a man you can decorate with gears and such for example). For the pink/plum coloured flower elements I used the A4 sheet of paper that was also a result of the mono printing process. I edged the yellow paper with Distress Ink in the colour “Walnut Stain“ using a foam applicator tool and I added some Stickles in the colour “Mercury Glass“ to the hearts of each flower. I adhered the flowers parts together and also the flowers to the box using the same Therm-O-Web “Mixed Media Adhesive“ that I used before.

And that finishes today’s fun little project!

Oh, and if you would like to know what I created with the other mono prints that you could see in the first pictures then you can go HERE: I used them on an art journal page.

Thank you Gel Press and Therm-O-Web for providing the Design Team with these awesome products to work with, I loved playing with them.

We would love to see what you create with The Crafters Workshop Stencils and Mediums.
You can share it with us on our Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.
