Art Journal collage page – Let the sun shine

Welcome back crafty friends.

In today’s art journal page I will show you how to create this gorgeous collage looking page.

You can watch the full video tutorial below:

I start out by putting some Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste through TCW806 Spanish Tile and let it dry. I love the light and fluffy modeling paste, because it dries really quick and takes all kinds of mediums like ink and paint so well. Next, I colored the entire page using Liquitex ink in the muted pink shades.

Now I am ready to add more texture.  I have a piece of white lace that I glue down in the middle of my page using TCW Clear Matt Gel.

To make the white lace blend in better, I gave it a quick wash of the same color inks.  Really soft pink and purples.  Then I used the TCW Gold Gesso with my finger and applied it to the lace to make it stand out a bit, while adding some interesting textures to look at.

Next I am adding lots of layers including some used baby wipes tassels, old story book pages, a store bought journaling card and cute Polaroid. I am stacking them all up over each other. I paint some small wooden hearts in the same ink color as the background, and gave them some TCW Gold gesso Love, before committing it all down with my TCW Matt Gel .  Added some Tim Holtz washi Tape to my polaroid, to get my message across.

Absolutely needed more shimmer here, so I had to reach for my TCW Shimmery Goodness as a final touch and just added some to the background stenciling groves with my finger and over the collage elements to make it all blend and look cohesive.

So that’s my collage journal page for you today, I hope you had fun with me and got inspired to go out and create something similar of your own.
