Monoprinted Tags

How to create fun gift tags using a monoprinting technique with stencils

Hi everyone, Heidi here, today I would like to show you a set of fun gift tags created with the use of Grafix Arts “Monoprint Plates“.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own. This post also contains affiliate links.

About the Grafix Arts “Monoprint Plates“:

– they come three in a pack;

– they are transparent, durable, lightweight, thin, hard plastic plates;

– they are not made out of gel, like the Gel-Press monoprinting plates;

– when you use paints for monoprinting then take note that they dry quicker on this kind of hard plastic monoprinting plates;

– the lifted prints from these plates are a little less detailed;

– I found that these plates work great with inks;

– you can also use these plates as a paint palette;

– take of the blue protective covers on both sides before you start playing with these fun Grafix Arts Monoprint Plates.

Now, let’s get started:

Step 1

To prepare my work surface and stabilize the Grafix Arts Monoprint Plate I adhered the plate to a sheet of printer paper using regular tape.

Step 2

Now I’m ready to play: I tried out different techniques combining some calligraphy inks (applied with a brush to the plate straight from the little bottles) and a The Crafter’s Workshop stencil called “Solemn Branch“ (TCW761s), I lifted prints from the plate directly and also used the ink covered stencil to make prints on the paper. I used 250 grams paper which is nice and sturdy.

When I liked what I created I also splattered with the same colours of ink on the designs that I created (to ad a little extra playful element).

This way I ended with three nice designs to create my project from!

From two of these designs I created tags as you can see in the picture. I edged the tags with some black ink using a foam applicator tool to create a more defined edge to them.

Step 3

On the third design that I created I stamped some butterflies using a Studio Light stamp with number STAMPMM217 using black ink. After stamping I fussy cut the butterflies and added some white Gelly Roll Pen for highlights.

Step 4

For my sentiments I choose two stamps from the Altenew stamp set called “Persian Motifs“, those I stamped on some black card stock using VersaMark Ink and I heat embossed using white embossing powder. Then I die cut banners from these sentiments using the smallest die in the Lawn Fawn “Everyday Sentiment Banners“ die set.

I felt that the tags that I created before needed a little something extra so that is why I decided to splatter on them with some FineTec Pearl Colors by Coliro GmbH in the colour “Tibet Gold“ using a brush and let that dry.

Now I’m ready to put my project together: I adhered the banners and the butterflies to my tags using Grafix Arts “Artist-Tac“ and I finished my tags by adhering some matching blue ribbon.

Artist-tac is easy to use: just pull apart the liner sheets, place the cut out shape onto the flat adhesive micro dots and pull away with just the adhesive you need. Initially re-positionable, once the final piece is burnished it becomes permanent.
