HELLO HAPPY – AN ART JOURNAL PAGE

Hello folks, Nancy here, and welcome to a tutorial for an art journal page using clear gesso and great new stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop.

Summertime is here and that means I’m headed to my happy place…the beach! Is there anything better than summer days on the beach?

Apply aqua and citron acrylic paints over gesso. Blend with baby wipes. The gesso will act as a resist and allow the blue base coat to show through.

Position Under the Sea stencil and add a row of shells to the bottom of the page using fluid chalk ink. Mask off unwanted areas first.

Add sand dollar and starfish also. Add a total of three stenciled images.

Using a correction fluid pen, trace around some of the swirls left by the gesso resist to create a feeling of waves. Add tiny bubbles (circles) made with a white gel pen around swirls and stenciled shells. Accent the stenciled seashells, sand dollars and starfish with white gel pen also.

Using foam applicator with black ink and Happy Greetings stencil, add “Hello Happy” to the top portion of the journal page. Adhere copy of vintage image with glue stick. An application of Deep Lagoon fluid chalk ink frames the outside edges of the page.
