BOTH SIDES NOW – MIXED MEDIA PIECE

Hello all, Nancy here. Welcome to this tutorial featuring a lovely face and rich background to create a mixed media piece.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

Supplies Used:

12″ x 12″ Aztec Queen stencil TCW647

12″ x 12″ Rustic Portal stencil TCW629

masking tape

140 lb watercolor paper

acrylic paint: mustard yellow, aqua, citron, black

sponge brushes and spouncers

baby wipes

polka dot tissue and paper

matte medium

Staz-On ink: black

Apply a wash of mustard yellow acrylic paint to watercolor paper and blend with baby wipe.

Position Rustic Portal stencil and secure with masking tape. Using spouncer and a light application of paint, add aqua, citron and mustard paint to the stencil. Work in a circular motion.

Background complete with TCW629 LEFKO

Position and secure Aztec Queen stencil to left side of the background, mask off earring with tape and fill in with black acrylic. Clean off stencil, then flip and position on right side a little lower down on the background. Fill in with acrylic paint.

Add torn pieces of polka dot tissue paper, adhering with matte medium.

Add polka dot tissue paper and adhere with matte medium LEFKO

Adhere torn polka dot paper and then finish off piece with an application of black Staz-On ink to the edges.
