Yupo + TCW Black Gesso = Happiness with Karenliz

Hi Everyone!
Today my creation started out with a sheet of Yupo and TCW Black Gesso.
TCW Black Gesso is matte opaque and I love to use it to start or restart my paintings.

My supplies. I used an 11×14 piece of Yupo and these paints.
Stencils: Mini Cactus TCW655s and Live Laugh Love TCW467s.

First let me say that this piece of Yupo had another painting on it that I was lost on. That’s where gesso arrives to save the day!  I applied the black gesso with a brayer to the Yupo and let it dry. Then I splattered white paint and let that dry.

I needed color so I add Bombay India Ink in Turquoise to the Yupo with a brayer.
Look how it brings out the white paint.  The smears of white paint is from the original painting so adds even more to it.

Next I added the stars from the Cactus stencil. Remember you don’t have to use the everything in a stencil.  I loved these stars because they are not perfectly cut stars. It makes them more unique for the painting.

Once I had enough stars I let it dry, added more splatters of paint and added the quote with white paint.

You can see the other painting’s texture in the above picture. Sometimes starting over just makes the next painting even better.

I hope this has inspired you to use TCW stencils, mediums and Yupo.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
