Hi There everyone.

It is me Marlene, from ART BY MARLENE.  Today on The Crafter’s Workshop blog, I will  show you how to bring some colour into your wardrobe, by pimping your old shoes and giving them a second life!

Start off by cleaning your shoes with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. Cover the insides of your shoes with some paper towel. Mix  TCW black and white gesso (to create a grey) and prime your  shoes(the parts that you are planning on painting) with it.

For painting and stenciling on your shoes, I recommend you use fluid acrylics, I used Decoarts MEDIA acrylics.  Take out  your TCW278 Stencil, called Circle Explosion by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. With a make-up sponge, dab some white paint through your stencil onto your shoes, repeat this process on both shoes ….on all sides.

When stencilling on shoes, use a fluid acrylic.

Now, take out your Mumsy stencil ,TCW592 (designed by Julia Fei-Fan Balzer) and on a few places, stencil on flowers with red paint, using light pouncing movements.

You can add a few handpainted yellow flowers, if you want, I did!

Add hand painted flowers

With your magenta media acrylics, paint in a few rose shapes. You can paint details into your flowers with magenta mixed with white, to create a lighter shade.

Make sure to cover your shoes with 3 thin coats of clear varnish(aerosol), letting it dry in between the coats.
