What if I fail? A Birch Wood Panel with Karenliz

Hi Everyone!
This Birch Wood Panel is simple and easy to create.
KarenlizBeesFlyWoodPanel (5)This is the birch wood panel I used.

KarenlizBeesFlyWoodPanel (1)It has a great surface. Here is a tip for you. If you like to see the grain of the wood in your painting then just start.  If you don’t want to see the grain, I suggest you add a coat of soft gel medium or gesso to the surface first to seal it. I like both but it’s a personal decision.

I started by painting the board black and started adding color with acrylic paints. I challenged myself and used whatever was on my table from Dina Wakely, DecoArt, Golden to Liquitex.

Once I added all the color I added circles with the Circle Explosion stencil.

Next, I added Honeycomb stencil and then just the dots in the Daisy Bit.
Remember you don’t have to use the whole stencil design, sometimes just a small portion is all you need.

KarenlizBeesFlyWoodPanel (4)When the paint dried I added the bees from the Daily Buzz stencil and let it sit overnight to dry.  I painted the bees with the dots from the Daily and added the quote with alpha stamps in archival ink.

  1. Makes me smile when I see this Karenliz because I feel sure that’s exactly how the bees see the world below them when they are flying… just as a haze of lovely colors and designs. Your background is so fun and happy. I love painting on wood! This is super. Xj.
