Hi everyone! I’m back this month with another CAS (clean and simple) card. I needed a few cards for some friends recently and found that by using stencils and Distress Inks I could quickly create many cards in a short period of time. You’ll love these easy to follow steps!
I started by using painters tape to hold a piece of cardstock on my non-stick craft sheet, just create a loop with the tape and attach to the back of the cardstock. I added two more pieces of tape to each side of the stencil, this is the Honeycomb (TCW346) design. This helps to keep your stencil from shifting while applying the ink. I used blending tools to apply a rainbow of Distress Inks to the cardstock. Once you pick up the ink with the blending tool, gently apply the ink by using a circular motion. Distress Inks blend amazingly well so overlapping the colors is a great way to achieve a seamless transition between colors.
Here’s my card base with all of the Distress Ink colors added through the stencil…and…
Here’s what it looks like once you remove the stencil! WooHoo! I just love the look of the crisp, white lines against those rich colors! Makes me want to wallpaper my house in this design…I love it!
Since I didn’t want to cover up all of that beautiful color, I only added a simple die cut black banner and two die cut hearts. The text was added using white embossing powder.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project and you try out this simple technique yourself! It’s a great way to mass produce cards in a short amount of time..perfection!
Happy Crafting!
Le plus simple est souvent le plus beau dans l’utilisation des pochoirs ! très jolie combinaison de couleurs !
Lovely!
Love this!
Kim – this is a very special make. Love the gradient colors on your honeycomb stencil. I see meaning in the colors and the stencil. The stencil reminds me of how interconnected the body of Christ is and how when we all trust God – we are stronger. And the colors remind me that the body of Christ is made up of anyone who believes – no matter what they look like – we are all one. Thank you for such an inspirational start to my week. Xj.
