A Fun Technique with Light&Fluffy Modeling Paste

Hi Everyone! Karenliz here to show you a fun technique you can do using Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste.

First box are my supplies. TCW’s wonderful Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste, Golden High Flow Acrylics, TCW’s Gel Medium, new stencil called Take Delight and 110 lbs card stock. If you don’t have high flow acrylics you can use any paint mixed with water.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with stencils to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

2.  I first brushed a layer of gel medium on the card stock and let it dry. Using the new 6×9 Take Delight stencil and Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste added the feather to the card stock.  For 30 to 40 seconds use a heat gun to dry the modeling paste. Start from underneath and on top. You are only trying to dry it until you feel a crusty top. It doesn’t take long. Depending on the humidity in your area, it could take a little longer. You don’t want the paste to bubble.

Because the modeling paste is light and fluffy, it will take staining.  I know you just dried it but spray the feather with water, one or two sprays. Take a brush and put a small drop of paint to the feather and watch the magic happen. It spreads right through the paste.

3.  Continue to add color and watch it spread through the paste. In No. 4 above you can see purple spreading.

If you are trying this technique on paper and you don’t use the gel medium the paint spreads on the paper as you can see below. But if you’re okay with it, then you don’t use it.

Here is another sample of this technique.

I hope you try this technique. It’s amazing what depth of color you can achieve.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
