Creative with stencils and watercolor {part2}

Good afternoon stencil lovers!

It is me , Marlene, from ART BY MARLENE. I am going to share a very short and sweet tutorial with you.

What I am going to do, is: I am going to combine my Crafter’s Workshop stencils with my watercolors again…

LET’S GET STARTED!

TCW592 – “MUMSY”

The stencil that I will be using is TCW592, ‘mumsy”, designed by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer for The Crafter’s Workshop.

getting started

I suggest you use watercolor or multimedia paper and lay your stencil flat on your page. I am using my USKbook, by Sennelier as my base for this project. You might want to use some removable tape to secure your stencil to your page.

Now it is time to start adding some color.

start adding color

This is where you should take your time. Paint in every flower individually, paint between the stencil lines and try not let the paint flow to much. As you can see I use different colours and values in every flower, to create interest.

watercolor through stencils

This is a time consuming process, just take your time. Choose a different color for every flower and make sure you keep on playing around with less and more pigment and water, to create visual interest.

When you are finished with all of your flowers and leaves, you can carefully lift off your stencil.

End result.

You might want to add a few more leaves…so your design can fade away.

I hope you enjoyed the project and I am looking forward to your comments!

Kind regards
