Hooray! A Clean and Simple Card Using Stencils

TCWCherryBlossomsCard

Hi everyone! Kim here today to share with you how you can use stencils to create a super fast, clean and simple card. All you need are some basic supplies…stencils, I’m using only two today, Quatrefoil and Cherry Blossoms, some Distress Inks and a blending tool.

I started with white cardstock and the Quatrefoil stencil, along with three coordinating Distress Inks (Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet, Worn Lipstick). I simply started with the lightest shade first, working from the top left corner down to the bottom right, ending with the darkest shade.

Next, I used the Cherry Blossom stencil and a dark purple Distress Ink (Seedless Preserves) to add the beautiful vines and flowers. This is one of my fav stencils for adding these types of details to a project…the delicate flowers and vines are just beautiful.

Finally, I added the birds, also from the Cherry Blossom stencil, using black Archival Ink. You’ll notice that I only used portions of the Cherry Blossom stencil and often turned the stencil so that I could place the image, i.e. birds, exactly where I wanted it. You can also flip the stencil over so to produce a mirror image. This allows you to have a bird facing either direction or places the vines in opposite directions, keeping the design looking random vs. a repeating pattern.

Once my stenciling was complete, I added a sentiment (from Sweet ‘n Sassy) and attached the panel to a card base. This was a card I made for a dear friend who turned 50 this year (yeah, a few months before me! LOL!), and since I’m usually running behind on cards and gifts, creating this in just about 15 minutes was the perfect time saver!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project…happy crafting!
