A New Stencil: Poppy Fields with Karenliz

Hi Everyone!
Today I have an art journal page using The Crafter’s Workshop new stencils called Poppy Field designed by Ronda Palazzari and Victorian Sketchbook designed by Kasia Krzyminska. TCW618VictorianSketchbookTCW601PoppyField

I started off with a journal page with a background on it already. Lots of acrylic paints, water and you can see TCW539 Pattern stencil in the background.

I used super heavy gesso through the Poppy Field stencil to add all the poppies.

Once they all dried I used Pan Pastels to add color; blues, purple, yellows.

Using the Victorian Sketchbook stencil I added some flourishes onto the page with my white Gelly Roll pen.

Here are a few close ups:

You can see bubbles in the super heavy gesso. I couldn’t wait for it to dry so I used a heat gun for faster drying but I love the bubbles. Make sure you do this in a well ventilated area.

Here is the final page.

Wonder what this would look like on a canvas?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this journal page. Pls answer one question: after you used pan pastel on poppies, did you need to use a fixative? If you don’t, does the pan pastel come off? Thanks

    1. Ida, I’m so happy you love my journal page. Yes, I use a fixative. Krylon Workable Fixatif. With the modeling paste the pan pastel stays on for a while but it will eventually disappear. I hope this answers you question.
