Art Journal Page to Wall Decor with Karenliz

I love the way my journal pages turned out but keeping it inside a journal just didn’t feel right.
Today, I’m going to show you how I took this double page and turned it into a home decor item.

Here is a list of supplies I used and the links to where you can find them.

Wooden Palette: Michael Craft Store

The Crafter’s Workshop Stencils (new 2016):
Crackle Paint-White
Fluid Acrylics: Titanium White, Carbon Black, Cadmium Orange Hue, Primary Yellow, Cerulean Blue, Primary Cyan
Misters: Yellow Green, Orange, Yellow
Dazzling Metallics: Venetian Gold

Roaming my local arts and crafts store I found this palette on sale.

To seal the wood so the paint wouldn’t soak into it I added a layer of clear gesso.
I used the Misters to add color to the wooden palette.

Next the scary step, adding black paint.

When it dried, I added the Chickadee Post stencil with white paint.

I then added the Poppy Garden stencil to the palette with crackle paint and let it dry overnight.

The next day, I added venetian gold paint on everything.

I then used media fluid acrylics and the Misters to paint the Poppy Garden.

  1. Gorgeous. I think the wood panel is even better. It is so bright and the contrast of color from the black just pops. I would love it hanging in my house!

  2. Wow wow wow. I love that so much. I loved it at the black and white stage too and both with and without the popies. Such gorgeous art for hanging thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️

  3. That’s gorgeous, Karenliz! Thanks for sharing all of the steps you went through to recreate your lovely journal pages onto wood! What fun, what fun!
