Hello crafters! I hope you had a very Merry Christmas! This is Rachel Kleinman back with you to share a fun winter themed birdhouse project.
SO let me take you through the steps to makes this cute birdhouse 🙂
I started by painting a plain wooden birdhouse (bought from a craft store) with Americana and Grumbacher paints. I let the paint completely dry before decorating the roof…
I used the new TCW – Woven stencil to add a snow-like feel to the roof. I went over the stencil in Whipped Spackle, then sprinkled glitter over the spackle while it was still wet. Next I wanted to add some decoration around the little hole for the birdies.
I wanted to use the medallion from “Moroccan Sun” but couldn’t get the image to fit in the nooks of the birdhouse. So I did some stencil surgery… I cut out the medallion. It was hard at first, but I got through it! I went over the stencil with some red modeling paste and let it dry. In the meantime, I worked on the embellishments…
I used TCW stencils “Fly Away“and “Pinecones” for the decorations. I started by placing the stencils on thick watercolor paper then going over the stenciled images with Whipped Spackle. I let the paste dry overnight before coloring them with Stamper’s Big Brush Pens by Faber Castell.
Next I colored the white space of the stenciled image with my Peerless Watercolors and let them dry completely before cutting them out…
So now it’s time to glue it all together!
I hope you’ve had a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
